High energy consumption – Reduced battery life Low energy consumption – prolonged battery life and cooler system
Increased file fragmentation – decreased performance Fragmentation not an issue, result is consistent performance
Greater risk of data loss and hard drive failure when transported Little or no risk of data loss; resistant to mobile users expected bumps and drops
Drive spin-up time and mechanical arm movement – comparatively slow responsiveness and performance No drive spin-up time, no mechanical arm movement, minimal latency – fast responsiveness and performance

USB 3.0 provides better speed and more efficient power management than USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices; however, data transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0 levels when these devices inter-operate.

The newest standard for USBs is USB 3.1. It offers three major improvements over 3.0: an "always right" C-type connector that plugs in without regard to orientation, higher data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps (gigabits per second), and the capacity to power any type of device.

All Xbox One variants (includes Xbox One, Xbox One S & Xbox One X), PS VITA, PS Vita TV, PS3*, PS4* and Nintendo Switch are region free.

The Xbox One S now has the power supply built in. Given the original Xbox One had a huge, bulky power supply this is a major step forward - especially given the PS4’s built in power supply was always a selling point for Sony. Xbox One S is 40% smaller than the original Xbox One.

Better connectivity with the Xbox One S as well:

  • Xbox One - 3x USB 3.0, 1x HDMI 1.4, 1x Kinect, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Ethernet
  • Xbox One S - 3x USB 3.0, 1x HDMI 2.0, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, Built-in IR blaster.

Nintendo

Nintendo 2DS, 3DS and Wii U are region-locked by hardware. A game's region is recognized by the console using the 10NES chip. If the chip inside the cartridge conflicts with the chip inside the console, the game will not boot.

Nintendo Switch

it is designed primarily as a home console, with the main unit inserted onto a docking station to connect to a television. Alternatively, it can be removed from the dock and used similarly to a tablet computer through its LCD touchscreen, or placed in a standalone tabletop mode visible to several players.

All Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers, Xbox One controllers and new Xbox One S controllers are compatible with respective consoles, and PC with Windows 10. To connect multiple controllers and Xbox devices to the Windows 10 PC, Xbox Gaming Receiver may be required. PlayStation controllers are console-specific and not officially cross-compatible with other devices.

Kinect is Microsoft's motion sensor add-on for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One gaming console. The device provides a natural user interface (NUI) that allows users to interact intuitively and without any intermediary device, such as a controller.
